Google Pay Policies for India Residents

ABOUT OUR POLICIES

Google Pay facilitates people to seamlessly send and receive payments and enable a unique payment experience. Our policies play an important role in maintaining a positive experience and trusting culture for users, merchants and other third parties. It’s important that you adhere to these policies when using Google Pay.

If you ever face an issue using Google Pay, we are here with policies, FAQs and customer service to help you. Please do note that most transactions-related issues or questions - such as chargebacks or refunds - may best be resolved by talking early and directly between the parties involved in the transaction. We will not be in a position to arbitrate disputes.

Google Pay strives to provide a safe, secure, and trusting environment for users to make payments. If you suspect any abusive or illegal content or activities on Google Pay, please report it to us immediately.

Google Pay reserves the right to expand or edit these policies at any time. Google Pay will also exercise its sole discretion in the interpretation and enforcement of these policies in conjunction with the product's Terms of Service.

USER & CONTENT POLICIES

Profile and registration

Be sure to use your first and last name on your profile as it will help build a trusting experience on your payment-related transactions, and help connect you with people you know. Please provide accurate details regarding your identity and payment options, to enable smooth and continuous provision of Google Pay Services.

Impersonation

Do not use Google Pay to mislead or confuse users by pretending to be someone else or representing an organization you do not represent. In addition, your Google Pay account profile name and photo cannot include content that is mature, offensive, or illegal.

Personal and Confidential Information

Do not use, share or distribute others’ personal and confidential information, such as credit card numbers, confidential national ID numbers, or account passwords, without their permission. If you suspect that your Google Pay account has been hijacked, please contact us. Do not attempt to use others’ Google Pay accounts without their permission, or steal their personal and confidential information.

Illegal content and activities

Keep it legal. Do not use Google Pay for illegal purposes or in support of illegal activities. To ensure a safe and positive experience for all users on Google Pay, comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and applicable rules of your respective payment instrument issuers including card associations and banks.

Users, merchants, billers and third parties are prohibited from using Google Pay to send or receive payments for the purchase or sale of any illegal goods or services (e.g. gender determination products, dowries, etc.). Any use of Google Pay for the purchase or sale of goods and services must also comply with our Google Pay Policies for Businesses.

Do not use Google Pay to transmit any content that threatens or encourages physical harm or harasses others.

SPAM, MANIPULATIVE AND MISLEADING PRACTICES

Spam

Do not spam, including by sending unwanted promotional or commercial content, or unwanted or mass solicitation. Do not aggressively message people on Google Pay.

Abuse of the product

Do not misuse Google Pay. We want Google Pay to be useful, relevant and safe for users, so we don’t allow any of the following:

  • Malicious content

  • Misrepresentation of self

  • Misrepresentation of products and services

  • Presenting a false identity, business name, or contact information

  • Enticing users to part with money or information under false or unclear pretenses

  • Attempting to trick other users or third parties for unfair advantages or financial gains

  • Content or behaviors that harms or interferes with the operation of the networks, servers, or other infrastructure

  • Attempting to solicit or collect user’s sensitive data, including but not limited to, passwords, financial details and Aadhaar number

  • Phishing scams

  • Fraudulent activities including money laundering

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU VIOLATE OUR POLICIES

Account suspension

An account may get suspended if you have several violations or a serious violation. If this happens, all transactions in the suspended account will be disabled - including transactions already initiated. We may no longer allow you to transact on Google Pay. Any related accounts may also get permanently suspended and you may not be allowed to open a new account. We may report any illegal activity if required by law.
